Consulting Expert Update, June 2018

Rimkus Building Consultants combines extensive expertise in building design, construction, operations and maintenance to serve our clients’ needs. Drawing from our team’s varied industry backgrounds, significant experience at Rimkus Consulting Group and more than 30 years of forensic investigation experience, we effectively deal with issues across the entire range of built environments from building envelopes and structural systems to roadways, bridges and electrical systems. Throughout each assignment, we combine comprehensive engineering skills and innovative thinking to proactively help mitigate risks and defects and maximize facility life cycles.

Jack Dolan, P.E., CBC
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

Jack Dolan, President of Rimkus Building Consultants, is a Certified Building Contractor in Florida and a Professional Engineer licensed in Arizona, California, Florida, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Mr. Dolan has more than 25 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction of projects ranging from business parks to large scale commercial and industrial facilities to multi-family dwellings. He has also had integral roles in bridge, infrastructure, and roadway projects on the Federal, State, and Municipal levels. His broad background includes forensic investigation, expert witness testimony, and the application of building regulations. A member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society, Mr. Dolan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology. He attended Villanova University for his graduate studies in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering.

John Stewart, M.S., P.E.
Salt Lake City, Utah

John Stewart is a Structural Practice Area Leader and Professional Engineer licensed in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. Mr. Stewart’s extensive background encompasses design, analysis, and construction administration of major projects including nuclear power plants, airport facilities, mass transit stations, parking deck structures, pulp and paper mills, highway bridges, industrial facilities, commercial buildings, residential structures, retaining walls, and drainage structures. He has also testified in court as an expert regarding the forensic investigation of failures in civil and structural engineering disciplines related to residential, commercial, municipal, and industrial buildings. Mr. Stewart holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil/Structural Engineering from the Universities of Minnesota and Colorado, respectively. He is a graduate of Georgia State University with a Master of Business Administration degree in International Finance.

Dereck Hodson, P.E.
Salt Lake City, Utah

Dereck Hodson is a Professional Engineer licensed in Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington. His expertise in structural design utilizing various materials includes wood, masonry, concrete, steel, and fiberglass. Mr. Hodson’s vast experience encompasses the design of residential buildings, light commercial buildings, heavy industrial buildings, pre-stressed concrete tanks, retaining walls, steel structures, seismic upgrades, demolition plans, and mining engineering structures. He has been involved in various aspects of construction project management including the development and production of budgets, schedules, cost estimates, construction bid documents, and reports. His consulting role extends to investigating and evaluating structural concerns and determining damaged structure repair protocols. Mr. Hodson graduated from Utah State University with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering.
