Rimkus Building Consultants combines extensive expertise in building design, construction, operations and maintenance to serve our clients. Drawn from our teams' varied industry backgrounds and significant experience at Rimkus Consulting Group and more than 30 years of forensic investigation experience; we deal with issues from building envelopes and structural systems to roadways, bridges, electrical systems and the entire range of built environments. Throughout each assignment, we assist our clients by bringing comprehensive engineering skills and innovative thinking to proactively help mitigate risks and defects and maximize facility life cycles.
Mickey Parker, P.E.
Mr. Parker is a Senior Engineer/Architect based in our Austin office. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Tennessee and Texas with more than 18 years of experience in Civil Engineering. Mr. Parker's expertise includes performing forensic evaluations of buildings, preparing structural engineering designs, and providing consulting services for roofing, and building envelopes. Additionally, he has opined on assignments involving building code compliance, construction defects and contractual disputes, foundation movement, structural failures, building envelope water intrusion, post-fire structural issues, vibration effects resulting from blasting, earthquakes, and construction equipment, storm and flood damage, hail damage, damage from high winds, vehicle impact to buildings and plumbing leaks. He also has extensive experience in the preparation of construction and bidding documents necessary for the restoration and/or rehabilitation of existing structures. Mr. Parker holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee.
John Bolig, MArch, AIA, LEED AP
Based in our Seattle office, Mr. Bolig is a Senior Architect with more than 21 years of experience in planning, design, construction and building evaluation for project types that include commercial, residential, multi-residential, retail, educational historic renovation and adaptive reuse. Posesssing a strong focused background in architectural design, engineering coordination, and construction administration, Mr. Bolig also has extensive knowledge of roof systems and below grade waterproofing and has also provided constructability and building envelope reviews. He has inspected and evaluated failures in building envelopes, building code and ADA accessibility code compliance, storm damage assessments, premises liability, and construction defects and disputes; inspections encompassing commercial, residential, civic, religious, hospitality and multi-residential building types. Mr. Bolig holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh, Master of Architecture degree from the University of Maryland and is a Registered Architect in Colorado, Delaware, District Columbia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Virginia, Texas and Washington.
Robert G. Mason, Jr., M.S., P.E.
Mr. Mason is an Architectural Engineer based in our Pittsburgh office with more than 15 years of experience in Architectural Engineering. He has broad experience in all aspects of contract negotiation, planning, design, and construction. Mr. Mason's background includes working as a structural design engineer, an Owner's representative, and a structural repair and waterproofing engineer which has enabled him to perform a variety of assignments for our clients, both in the public and private sectors. These projects have ranged from performing Owner's representative duties for two $5.5 million new-build self-storage facilities, designing the structural framing for new office, apartment, and condominium buildings, performing due diligence and property condition assessment surveys, surveying, designing, bidding and awarding, and performing construction administration services for multiple building structure, facade, garage and plaza repair programs. Mr. Mason holds both Bachelor and Master of Science in Architectural Engineering degrees from The Pennsylvania State University and is a Professional Engineer in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, and Pennsylvania.
Troy M. Smalley, M.S., M.B.A., P.E., LEED AP
Salt Lake City, Utah
Based in our Salt Lake City Office, Mr. Smalley is an Engineer/Architect with more than 20 years of engineering experience including the design of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems, plumbing systems, fire protection systems and building commissioning. He has designed engineering systems for universities, high schools, houses of worship, hospitals, clinics, research laboratories and condominiums and worked on mechanical systems ranging in size from residential furnaces and condensing units to steam boilers, chillers, and cooling towers in central plants. As a LEED Accredited Professional, Mr. Smalley has helped clients incorporate goals for energy efficiency and minimal environmental impact into their designs. He has experience in all aspects of the built environment from the design through the construction phases, to facilitating the transition to the occupancy and operation phases. Mr. Smalley holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University, a Master of Business Administration from University of Utah, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of Utah and is a licensed Professional Engineer in California, Florida, Idaho, Louisiana, Oregon, Texas and Utah.
